Susan Singer, a Senior District Accountant at PFM, has spent more than four decades in accounting, building a career that spans public accounting, corporate controllership, independent practice, and governmental fund accounting. At PFM, Susan's work centers on Community Development Districts, concentrating on cash and debt service management, budgeting, accounts payable, tax collections, special assessments, and governmental fund accounting.
Susan came to PFM from JPWard & Associates, where she served as Controller, managing the accounting team and specializing in district finance. Earlier in her career, she spent nearly a decade as Controller of Michigan Motor Exchange in Waterford, Michigan, where she oversaw all accounting and office management functions, including financial statement preparation, benchmarking, cash flow projections, payroll, and benefits administration. Before that, as Assistant Controller at The Engineering Services Group in Farmington Hills, she managed the accounting and finance department, prepared monthly reporting packages for corporate officers, and handled corporate tax planning and year-end audits. She began her career at George R. Thompson Accounting in Southfield, preparing individual, corporate, partnership, and payroll tax returns; conducting audits for the IRS, state agencies, unions, and insurers; and implementing the firm's first computerized general ledger, payroll, and tax systems.
Outside of her professional work, Susan has served on numerous nonprofit boards at the local, regional, and national levels. Most recently she served as North American Treasurer of WRJ from 2018 to 2025. She is a Notary Public in Oakland County, Michigan, Certified Tax Preparer and studied general business at Oakland Community College.
