Kari a managing director for PFM’s Michigan financial advisory business. She joined PFM in April 2004, opening the Michigan municipal financial advisory practice. She has over 30 years of financial advisory experience assisting clients with the development and implementation of debt financing plans, credit analysis and transaction management. She has assisted a wide range of Michigan public entities, with the completion of over 1,000 financings including general obligation, revenue and lease backed bond and note, tax-exempt, taxable, fixed-rate, variable rate and synthetic fixed rate transactions. These have included energy conservation improvements, airports, roads, bridges, parking structures, primary and secondary education facilities, pension and post-employment health care obligations, economic development projects, water, wastewater, drains, public power and waste disposal systems and cash flow and fiscal stabilization financings.
Kari’s client base represents a broad range of public entities in Michigan including the Detroit Public Schools; Western Michigan University; Oakland University; the Counties of Washtenaw, Livingston, Monroe and Macomb, the Wayne County Treasurer; Cities of Southfield, Midland, Holland, Farmington Hills and Monroe; Walled Lake Consolidated Schools; Rockford Public Schools, and the Gerald R. Ford International Airport. She regularly assists clients with the formulation and execution of credit rating strategy, having successfully obtained credit rating upgrades for many clients.
Kari served on Board of the Michigan Government Finance Officers Association and is a member of the organization’s Legislative and Membership Committees. She is a former Board member and Treasurer of the Michigan Women in Finance.
