PFM announced today that Robert (Bob) McDermott has joined the firm as a Director for PFM Group Consulting LLC. Bob brings nearly a decade of public budgeting and finance experience, most recently as the Budget Director for the City of Philadelphia.
“We are excited to have Bob join PFM’s consulting practice. As someone who has served in leadership roles for both the executive and legislative branches of local government, Bob brings proven experience to PFM’s clients.” stated Matthew Stitt, Managing Director.
“Bob’s expertise in fiscal analysis, public sector pensions, and government operations deepens the level of service we can provide our clients,” said Gregory C. Butler, Director and head of PFM’s workforce consulting practice. “Bob will support our clients going through the collective bargaining process as well as bolster our fiscal and budgetary advisory offerings to local and state clients.”
Prior to joining PFM, in Bob’s capacity as the Budget Director for the City of Philadelphia, he was responsible for the development, preparation, and once adopted, monitoring of multi-billion dollar operating and capital budgets. Previously, Bob served as the Chief Financial Officer for the Philadelphia City Council, where he was responsible for overseeing the budget approval process, providing analysis to City Council on budgetary matters and other legislation, and representing City Council on boards and committees including the Board of Pensions and Philadelphia Accelerator Fund.
Bob received his dual Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science at Temple University, where he also received his Master of Arts in Geography and Urban Studies. He also recently taught State and Local Budgeting as an adjunct instructor with Temple University’s Master’s in Public Policy program.
