PFM Named Among Best Places to Work in Philadelphia Region

Philadelphia, PA - PFM has been named one of the 2017 Best Places to Work for the Greater Philadelphia region by Philadelphia Business Journal

Winners are based entirely on employee surveys, which measure employee engagement, workplace culture and other company attributes.

“PFM’s culture is built around collaboration and inclusiveness. We listen to our employees and continuously strive to improve our training and career opportunities to help everyone continue to learn and grow as professionals,” said PFM CEO John Bonow. “While we know that we have much more to do, these efforts are ongoing and help people feel respected and supported as they develop their skills as trusted advisors and colleagues across our national business.”

“This result is really driven by our people,” added PFM’s Managing Director, Human Resources, Michael Aileo. “The fact that we made this list indicates that our employees believe as we do, that they are PFM’s most valuable asset. From a people perspective, focusing on their needs and career potential over a sustained period of years is truly what got us here.”

PFM, based in Philadelphia, is a national leading provider of independent financial and investment advisory services to state and local governments and not-for-profit institutions. From CEO Bonow’s perspective, providing a great place to work allows the company to retain talented employees, which benefits clients and is good for business.

“When our employees have positive experiences working at PFM, it builds confidence for them to build their career here. This strengthens our ability to serve clients by diversifying and deepening our knowledge base. It also adds continuity to the project teams which develop solutions to clients’ challenges,” Bonow said. “This, in turn, adds to positive client experiences, bolsters our reputation for excellent client service and allows more clients to see the value of working with PFM.”

This year, the Philadelphia Business Journal received a record number of nominations for Best Places to Work, making the honor even more significant. For PFM, participation in this contest is about more than just the award.

“Being ranked among the region’s best large companies reflects the camaraderie and collaboration that allows PFM to continue to succeed,” Aileo said. “Equally important, however, is the survey feedback which we will use to improve our efforts to cultivate a work environment worthy of this recognition. That means continuously considering performance management, coaching, mentoring and compensation. We want employees’ input to help drive additional improvements.”

The survey was conducted for the Business Journal by Quantum Workplace, a company that measures employee engagement and helps organizations retain top talent.

The award will be presented to PFM at an August 10 event at the Fillmore in Philadelphia.
