Today, PFM announced that CEO Dan Hartman has decided to return to a direct client support role, effective April 7, 2025. The PFM board has unanimously named JoAnne Carter, managing director and president of PFM Financial Advisors LLC (PFMFA), as incoming CEO of PFM, effective April 7.
“Dan accepted the CEO role in 2021 to guide PFM through our transformation into a stand-alone financial advisory and consulting firm,” said Sergio Masvidal, Chair, PFM Board of Directors. “With our firm solidly positioned, Dan expressed to the board his desire to return to a client-focused role. We support his decision and are grateful for his leadership as CEO and his ongoing commitment to our clients.”
JoAnne joined PFM as a financial analyst in 1992 and later went on to establish the firm’s Virginia financial advisory practice and lead PFM’s south region. Over three decades, she has advised state and local clients on billions in financing and has successfully grown the south region of the firm’s practice. She also sits on PFM’s Executive Committee and serves as president of PFMFA. In 2021, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Virginia Women in Public Finance, and was named among the 2022 Trailblazing Women in Public Finance by the Northeast Women in Public Finance and the Bond Buyer.
