FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mary Peloquin-Dodd will be joining PFM as a Director in the Higher Education Group beginning October 24, 2022. Mary comes to PFM from North Carolina State University, where she served for 10 years as Associate Vice Chancellor for Finance and University Treasurer. Prior to North Carolina State University, Mary was a Managing Director at Standard & Poor’s (S&P) in New York, where she led bond and credit ratings for higher education and not-for-profit corporations.
As a thought leader in higher education, Mary is a regular speaker at industry conferences, has published numerous articles on higher education finance during her career, and participates in industry focus groups such as the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB). She is currently a Board Member of the Treasury Institute for Higher Education, and for many years served on the Program Committee as a member and chair of the annual Symposium.
In her new role at PFM, Mary will focus on alternative delivery / public private partnerships (P3) projects for higher education clients. Additionally, she will function as a resource to our national higher education practice on matters of strategic finance such as M&A, asset monetization and disposition, real estate / economic development, financial improvement strategies, and workforce organization solutions.
“Mary has a fantastic reputation in our industry and is someone that we have admired for many years. Her addition is part of the continued implementation of our strategic growth to expand the ways we add value to our clients,” said Jeremy Bass who leads PFM’s Higher Education and Healthcare Group.
PFM has consistently ranked as the number one financial advisor on debt financings in the higher education sector by Refinitiv, based on both number of transactions and par amount, since 19981. Over the past several years, PFM has made a focused effort to expand the services it provides to its higher education clients to serve as a broader strategic financial advisor.
“We are thrilled to have Mary join our team,” said Ryan Conway, Managing Director responsible for managing PFM’s coverage of alternative delivery / P3 projects for higher education clients. “We have been fortunate to work with several prestigious universities and colleges on a growing variety of projects. Mary’s considerable knowledge base and skill set will be a tremendous asset to our team as we continue to scale the business.”
In her time at North Carolina State University, Mary has been integral to many transformational projects and programs such as modernizing financial operations and automating Treasury operations, organizational restructuring initiatives, and multiple transformational capital projects. These projects include the creation of an Innovation District on NC State’s Centennial Campus; a successful hotel/conference center developed and built on campus with private funds; a creamery that highlights the university’s agricultural roots, and one of the largest timber deed sales ever associated with a public university. During her tenure, the university’s endowment grew from $635 million to $2.02 billion.
Mary expressed her excitement at joining PFM noting that “the opportunity to collaborate and work with the higher education team on complex strategies is irresistible.”
